Brunch & Sports Movies with Rachel Leishman

Matt & Emily welcome comedian, writer, and social media maven, Rachel Leishman, to the podcast and drink Tante T’s Rooibos Hyldeblomst tea! Matt’s mini-topic is brunch: Sweet or savory? Bloody Mary or no Bloody Mary? Is there a difference between brunch food and breakfast food? These are the questions that need answers. Then, Rachel’s guest topic is something she loves to talk about, sports movies! Best sports movies, worst sports movies, movies you didn’t think were sports movies, they all get covered!

Peanut Butter M&M’s & the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Billy Soco

Matt & Emily welcome their friend Billy Soco to the podcast to drink DAVIDsTEA’s La La Lemon tea. In one of the more heated mini-topics of all time, Emily is talking about Peanut Butter M&M’s, comparing them to other M&M’s and to candies as a whole. Billy comes in ready to talk about everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Disney gaining the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, past movies, future movies, TV shows, Brie Larson, and more!

Star Wars

Everyone has an opinion on Star Wars and this week Matt & Emily let you in on some of theirs. They talk the prequels, the original trilogy, the sequel trilogy, the anthology films, and—most importantly—rank the droids. They do this all while they enjoy organic cinnamon rooibos chai tea by DAVIDsTEA.

Souvenirs & Mulan with Jordan Sarili

Matt & Emily welcome Jordan Sarili to the podcast to enjoy some of Solberg & Hansen’s Nordiske Skogsbær (Nordic Forestry) tea from Norway. It’s a “sort te med smak” or, as Google would say, “black tea with taste.” The tea is another one from Emily’s recent trip to Scandinavia and inspiration for her topic this week: souvenirs. Jordan’s topic is the Disney animated film, Mulan. He talks about what makes it special to him, the songs, the acting, the humor, and offers some thoughts on the upcoming live-action remake.

The Shining

Matt and Emily enjoy Adagio’s gemini tea, representing both the zodiac sign of when this episode was released and symbolic of the “twins” in this week’s topic, The Shining. They talk about Matt’s theories, the unsettling and disorienting nature of the film, pop culture touchstones, whether the moon landing was faked, ghosts, if the movie can be spoiled, the documentary Room 237, and more! They also briefly discuss Fortnite, how they listen to podcasts, mobile games, The Simpsons, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and introduce their new rating system: “cup of tea or not cup of tea.”
